Equipment belonging to the Nigerian Army has exploded at a fabrication workshop, killing the artisan and wounding one soldier in Damaturu, Yobe state.

Daily Trust gathered that the pipe-like equipment was brought to the fabricator identified as Usman Musa by a military vehicle to be cut into specific size, but explosion occurred killing the fabricator on the spot.

Spokesman of 27 Taskforce Brigade, Lt George Akupe confirmed the incident, saying that a soldier was injured in the incident, but the detail would be made available after proper investigation.

An eye witness revealed that the deceased was not comfortable with the job offered to him by the military but was later convinced to work on the equipment.

“It wasn’t long I left the place when the loud sound rented the air. Usman was already dead when I returned, I saw the soldier badly injured, blood was gushing out all over his body before his colleagues rushed him to hospital,” he said.
