A 22-year-old woman has appeared before Magistrate Florence Nago in Gweru facing assault charges after she struck a CID Police Officer with an empty bottle at Salaco Night Club.

The court heard that Chrispen Musiiwa, who resides in Mkoba 13 and is employed by the Ministry of Home Affairs as a Police Officer and currently stationed at CID Gweru was struck on the forehead with a bottle by Tabeth Tshabalala of 33 Ndema Road Mambo.

On July 20 the accused was at Salaco Night Club where the accused and complainant were drinking beer. The accused person was holding an empty bottle and then struck the complainant with it once on forehead.

Tshabalala was sentenced to six months imprisonment, three months suspended for five years on condition accused does not within the same period commit a similar offence.

Another three months were suspended on condition that she completes 105 hours of community service. Charlotte Nota prosecuted.
