Civil Servants under the Nigeria Union of Pensioners have staged a strike in Benin over unpaid pension by the government, Punch reported.

The aggrieved protesters are said to have carried placards stating their grievances.

According to the retired civil servants, they have not received their entitlements for over 42 months for others.

Some have been evicted from their apartments due to not being able to rent as stated by the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Rowland Osakue.

State Chairman of the NUP, Pullen Noruwa, has stated that the governor needs to clear the backlog of the outstanding pensions.
