A married man has sensationally claimed that his lover wants him dead and will not rest until she accomplishes her goal. Martin Mwaita accused Brenda Mpofu of attempting to stab him more than two times. He revealed this in court where he sought a protection order against her. Martin said Brenda carries an okapi knife in her bag most if not all the times.
“She is my girlfriend and we dated for a year. She even bore me a child. The problem started when I came home from work and she started going through my phone. I asked her to stop but she wouldn’t listen. She then came across messages from a female co-worker and she assaulted me with plastic buckets and then pulled a kitchen knife on me.
“She tried to stab me with the knife but neighbors came and stopped her. After our neighbors had gone she put a pot of cooking oil on the stove and swore she would pour it on me. She went on to hit me with a DVD player and before I knew it she pulled an okapi knife from her hand bag and tried to stab me again. As I was lying down she called my wife and told her that she had to come and collect my dead body.
“The night passed and the following morning she followed me home and threw the baby at my wife and started hitting me with pots. She then went on to threaten to stab me with the same okapi knife. I am afraid of her because she might end up killing me for real. I do not consider her my wife because she forced me to marry her threatening to commit suicide if I did not. My wife can testify on my behalf because she was there when all this happened. I had to go back to my wife because I could no longer take the violence,” he said.
In response Brenda argued that Martin was lying and she had never attacked him.
“He is lying, I did not attack him. Our relationship started off as a workplace fling but then we ended up getting serious and moved in together. He paid my lobola and I have the proof. I consider myself as his second wife. The day he is talking about, he came home and I prepared his bath for him, I then went through his phone and came across messages from another woman. We had altercation concerning that. Aitichinjanisa, aiti one day kumukadzi wake two days kwandiri. I never abused him like he is claiming,” she said. Martin’ s wife corroborated his story and insisted that Brenda had come to her house and attacked Martin over messages she had come across in his phone . Nyatsanza granted Martin the protection order ordering Brenda to stop verbally and physically abusing Martin.
