The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday denied any rift in the party over the planned decamping of former EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In an interview with Daily Trust, the acting chairman of the party in the state, Ibrahim Bilal, said the return of Ribadu and Marcus Gundiri, could not cause division as the party had always welcomed new members.

He noted that comments credited to Abdurrahman Jimeta, the Chief of Staff to Governor Muhammadu Jibr‎illa Bindow, did not represent the position of the party, saying the caliber of the decampees should be acknowledged by party members.

Jimeta ‎wondered why the party should organise reception for “unreliable politicians,” who according to him left for then ruling PDP,  at the critical time of elections.

“Who ever want to join or rejoin APC should go to his ward and register; that’s the right thing to do,” he said.

However, ‎a chieftain of the APC in the state, who did not want his name mentioned,  said former Governor Murtala Nyako, as well as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir  Lawal, were behind the dramatic return of Ribadu and Gundiri.
