Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and one-time Delta State governorship aspirant, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, says he foresees his party’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, winning the forthcoming Edo State governorship election. Onuesoke, while reacting to INEC recognition of Ize-Iyamu as the PDP governorship candidate in the election during a sensitisation tour of Edo North, last week, urged Edo indigenes to come out en-masse to cast their votes for the candidate.

He explained that despite the fact that the present governor of the state is from APC, the indices on ground showed that PDP is the leading party in Edo. “For instance, out of the nine House of Representatives members in the state, PDP has five. That was an election that was conducted a little over a year ago.

The constituency of the present governor of the state is represented in the House of Assembly by a member of PDP. Besides, the people of Edo are tired of APC because the party has failed to fulfil its promises to them, “he said. “Ordinarily if the contest is between Ize-Iyamu and Obaseki, the former will outshine the latter because he is a politician to the core”, Onuesoke argued.

Speaking on the leadership crisis in PDP, he appealed to Ali Modu Sheriff and Dr. Cairo Ojougboh to drop their grievances and join hands with the progressives in moving PDP to greater heights.
