The Executive Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode was in attendance at the derby match between Ikorodu United FC and MFM FC, where MFM defeated Ikorodu United 3 -1 at the Agege Stadium.
Sikiru Olatunbosun put MFM FC ahead in the 12th minute, while Ikorodu United levelled the scores eight minutes later from the spot kick through Fatai Abdullahi. Stephen Odey put MFM ahead again in the 69th minute, before a penalty kick gave the winners the third goal in the 92nd minute. The decision of the referee drew debate as the MFM attacker went down too easily in the box.
Ambode who spoke with newsmen at half time promised that the state government will continue to develop sports through the development of more facilities.
He said, “I don’t see any reason why every local government area should not have a mini stadium. We will work on making this facility available in every local area through partnership with the private sector.”
He was at the venue with Chairman of the Lagos Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu.
