Dear friend, how does this sounds to you, imagine a person who does not know where he/she is going, yet, seeking the road to the place? So, which place, you may ask too? This is lack of a good sense of direction and goal surely! But this is the perfect description of many in our world today. They don't have a good sense of direction; don't know who to follow and when to follow...since there is no set goal. They are neither here or there! Confusion and frustration set in.
The only one we can rely on is Jesus the Saviour, who is the way himself that leads to life! Sing: "Where he leads I follow, follow on the way...follow Jesus every day."
Standing firm demands enormous courage and resolve to keep at it, even when things get rough and tough. Remember you are not alone, God is with you!
Staying unified challenges us to carry others along, no wonder Jesus sent them out two-by-two, because when one is weak in faith, one carries the
other. I don't accept the saying that you can't carry a man with a broken waist, all you need is a wheelbarrow! Lol. Whole-hearted commitment is the watch word here.
St Paul tells us, "If you go snapping at each other and tearing each other to pieces (word/action), you had better watch or you will destroy the whole community".
Note: To build up may take years, to destroy only takes a few moments! Are you a builder or destroyer of others progress, peace and freedom? Taking the road to true freedom involves our cooperation with the Life giving spirit in us, deposited at Baptism. Look where you are going and
go where you are looking! Gal.5:18, "If you are led by the spirit, no law
can touch you." Sing: "Wa o Emi Mimo o, metalokan...sa mona wa". Hence, "Let Jesus be our road map, our GPS; Global Positioning Star"
Today, Jesus invites us to stay focus on the path to true freedom. Gal 5:1
says, "When Christ freed us, he meant us to remain free. Stand firm,
therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery." We become a new
creation by the fact of our Baptism, and this is renewed each moment we stay unified with God and the Church of Christ in our profession and practice of our faith.
Our commitment should not be limited, we must work and pray.
Sing: "Great things happen; when God mixes with men...some see their lives
as they never could before..."
As followers of Christ Jesus, we must be ready to renounce our comfort to
give true service. Elijah and Elisha were good example in the Old
Testament, the Apostles showed good examples by their way of lives (First Christian Community), what is happening in our world today. Why is there no peace despite the daily birth of churches and religious houses of worship? Is it because Christ is no longer put at the centre? Sing: "I surrender all to Jesus..."
Finally, let us put in more effort to be dedicated to God, and be true disciples everywhere we go! All he needs from us is, "Here I am Lord...I
have heard you calling in the night, I will go Lord, if you lead me...”
Which road are you taking at the moment? Where are you heading too? Who is your guiding star? Create a mission and a life style, according to the example and dictate of the Master (Jesus Christ). "For each of us it is our journey to God in the footsteps of Christ" All is well.
Our help is in the name of the Lord...
