The Catholic Diocese of Ondo Justice Development and Peace Centre, Akure, Ondo State is the social arm of the church through which the church continues her course for social justice, both within the church and the largersociety.

By its functioning, JDPC established some 26 years ago as a Faith-Based NGO, which aims at effective enlightenment and efficient empowerment of all people (irrespective of their creeds, colour or race) so that they can see the need for and be committed to promoting authentic development, justice and peace in the world.

JDPC carries out the prophetic ministry of the church by identifying social evils and concretely addressing them in accordance with the gospel of Christ and the social teachings of the Catholic Church.

It is also committed to building people’s capacity and advocating on issues bothering on holistic human development, justice and peace, democracy and governance, human rights, agricultural and rural development, women and youth empowerment as well as other issues of common good.

The vision statement of the organization says “A Nigeria characterised by just and peaceful communities where the dignity of the human person is paramount and where the people can meet their basic human needs.”
