The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State Monday denied the allegation of a plan by its leadership to tinker with the delegates’ list to be used for the governorship primary of the party.

The Chairman of the party, Hon Isaacs Kekemeke, who met with the aspirants of the party at the party secretariat, expressed the desire of the party to have free, fair and credible primary election in order to choose candidate of the party for November 26 election in the state.

This development came as the aspirants of the party agreed to work harmoniously for the development of the party and make sure the party wins the next governorship election in the state.

Some delegates of APC have alleged of plans to manipulate the delegate list of the party ahead of the party’s primary to elect candidate for the State governorship election.

The delegates including chairmen, secretaries, statutory and elected delegates of the party at the 14 local government areas of the state alleged that some leaders of the party are planning to tinker with the delegate list in order to manipulate the primary election.

At a meeting held at the Big House in Ondo in Ondo West Local Government Area of the state at the weekend, the Chairman of APC Ondo East, Mr Temitope Akintunde accused the some leadership of the party in the state of a plan to foist a candidate on the party and thereby plunge the party into crisis before the governorship election.

Akintunde said there was plan to introduce direct primary, a situation where all party members would be asked to vote for candidate of their choice instead of delegate system in order to truncate the desire of the majority of the party members.

But yesterday, Kekemeke dismissed the allegation of the delegates saying the constitution of the party does not allow for such manipulation.
