The Nigerian government’s website website www.portal.npower.gov.ng through which applications are to be submitted for its 500,000 teachers recruitment into the federal service has crashed on the first day of the registrations, Punch reports.

When visited, the website shows the following message “An error occurred. Sorry, the page you are looking for is currently unavailable. Please, try again later. If you are the system administrator of this resource, then you should check the error log for details. Faithfully yours, nginx.”

However speaking on the crashed website, the Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Akuneme, said, “The recruitment process is on. The website has been publicised in the media. It is too early to get the response and number of applicants since it just began.”

The recruitment of teachers was one of the initiatives by the federal government to provide employment for Nigerians through a process known as N-Power.
