There was panic yesterday at the Bayelsa State Government House following heavy gunfire between security operatives and some suspected kidnappers who attempted to abduct some Chinese nationals working on the proposed state government Castle Hotel.

The Chinese nationals, numbering six and resident at a lodge known as Expatriate quarters within the Government House, were woken up by the invasion of some armed kidnappers at about 11.50  pm.

CEOAFRICA source  gathered that the suspected kidnappers breached security through the waterways behind the complex to attack Chinese nationals.

According to Government House source, “One of the Chinese nationals was bold enough to tackle one of the kidnappers and disarm him. The Chinese national later opened fire and the sporadic gunshot attracted heavy security presence at the main entrance of the Government House.”

Another source told CEOAFRICA source that “the Chinese man attacked one of the kidnappers and collected his gun at the Castle Hotel in Government House, Yenagoa.”
