The Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has appointed Prof Ayobami Salami as the new Vice Chancellor.

The decision was reached at a meeting yesterday.

In a release by the registrar of the university, he replaces Prof Bamitale Omole whose tenure will expire on June 23, 2016.

Ayobami is a Professor of State Application and Environmental Studies.
