Hull City midfielder Mohamed Diame described his Wembley winner against Sheffield Wednesday in the playoff final on Saturday, as the most important goal of his career.

The Senegal international curled a cracking 25-yard strike into the back of the net as the Tigers sealed an immediate return to the Barclays Premier League.

Talking to the club’s official website, Diame admitted that the goal might not be the best he has ever scored, but did label the strike as the most important of his career thus far.

“I don’t know if it’s the best goal I’ve ever scored, but it’s definitely the most important,” Diame told the club’s official website. “It’s been a long, tough season but we’ve done it.

“Now we must enjoy this achievement and celebrate it. I am delighted.”

The 28-year-old joined Hull from West Ham United ahead of the 2014-15 season.
