The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has assured that its 49th year celebration which kicked off on Sunday would be peaceful.
Anthony Nwodo, the Nnewi South Regional administrator, who addressed newsmen in Onitsha on Sunday gave the assurance saying: “people are free to go about their business without molestation from anybody today as we mark 49th anniversary of MASSOB existence.
“We celebrate it annually so there is no cause for alarm. Even if the Joint security Task Force is patrolling to frustrate our celebration it will not work,” he said.
Nwodo expressed regret that the security task force stormed his furniture making work place in search of him in the wee hours of last Friday along Awka Road and arrested his boss , Eddy Nwosisi, who is not a MASSOB member.
He said, “We are giving them 48 hours to release him and four others arrested in various locations.
“They came with four army patrol vehicles and four police patrol vehicles to the workplace.
“Let them invite me if they want me and stop embarrassing the innocent people of Biafra.
“Our leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike should be supported by the Igbo to actualize a sovereign state of Biafra,” Nwodo added.
