Chief Martin Onovo, the presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) in the 2015 election in his assessment of the one year of President Muhammadu Buhari, described the situation as “very unfortunate and very catastrophic.”
He maintained that everything has become worse, “insecurity has become worse; in inflation has become worse, value of the Naira has become worse. In fact, it is totally catastrophic.”
He said the government’s main challenge is the PC government wanted power and got, “but they had nothing to offer. This is evidenced from the fact that President Buhari has told Nigerians that he did not make any promises.
“Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, said (in the Daily Trust of Saturday May 28) that the government has spent the one year planning. This shows that they had no plan right from inception. Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. That is why the one year of President Buhari is a total failure as they have nothing to offer Nigerians.
“The APC government is very corrupt and lacks patriotism. It is impossible to expect anything from them.
“The majority of Nigerians are being impoverished. There is a lot of taxation, there is increase in fuel price and they plan to return the toll gates as part of the plan to continue to extort money from the people to continue to impoverish them.”
Onovo said the solution is for Nigerians to rise up and remove the APC government when the time comes through a legal and democratic way.
