Representative of Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Honourable Temitope Olatoye, on Monday inspected the level of progress in the on-going rehabilitation work at Television Road that was destroyed due to the heavy down pour of rain.
Rehabilitation work started last week as a result of the deplorable state of the road that made it impossible for motorist to ply the road.
Olatoye who condemned the slow pace of response by relevant government agencies promised his constituent of true and proper representation at all time and in all places.
He said “I have received a lot of complaints regarding these roads on several occasions. I have moved emergency motion in the house to compel National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to act and salvage the situation; in December, I visited NEMA and other relevant agencies to rehabilitate this road but nothing was done and the condition of the road deteriorated.
“I visited home last week and saw the bad shape of the road myself, I promised my people that work will commence immediately on the road and I have come to keep faith with the promise and to inspect the progress of work done.”
Olatoye, while fielding questions from newsmen at the construction site, highlighted other project he and his foundation, Olatoye Sugar Foundation, OSF have embarked on.
“If you go to NTA, we are building a state-of-the-art hall there, if you go to Isaba Tudeen Grammar School, you will see the ultra-modern Mosque that we have erected there, in Aro Makinde there is no primary school there, we have been able to build a primary school there and we will open three of the classrooms next week. We have boreholes in so many communities and other numerous projects in the constituency,” he said.
The Speaker, National Youth Assembly of Nigeria; Oyo State Chapter, Suleiman Oguleye, who spoke to CEOAFRICA correspondent thanked Honourable Olatoye for his response to help fix the road.
He said “Initially, we sent representative to the Local Government Council, The Chairman came to see things for himself and told us that the project is beyond the financial capacity of the council, the state government said the same thing but thank God for the swift response of Honourable Olatoye. I never believed a single individual will be able to shoulder the responsibility of this project. We appreciate our honourable for this project he has embarked on and we want to assure him that we would stand by him.”
