Honourable Temitope Olatoye Sugar, representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal  Constituency on Friday commenced the repair and rehabilitation work at Television Road in the Ojoo-Moniya axis of Ibadan in  Oyo State, Nigeria of the West African continent  following the heavy downpour of rain that destroyed the road.

CEOAFRICA correspondent, who visited the site observed that the road is severely damaged that only motorcycle can now ply it.

Hon Olatoye, who has mobilised construction workers and machineries to the site has seen the damaged part of the road cordoned off to prevent unsuspecting motorist from falling prey to the death trap.

It was observed that several excavators are at the site trying to create new waterways and also clear debris from the drainage, so that water can flow freely into the underground drainage.

A resident of the community who spoke to our correspondent thanked Hon Olatoye for his swift response in coming to the rescue of the community and also blamed the dumping of refuse on drainage as the major cause of the damage to the road. He therefore urged residents to desist from such acts.

He said “I appreciate Hon Olatoye because of his quick reaction in bringing the situation under control; if we experience another downpour, the situation might be worse if nothing is done on the road to ameliorate the situation.

"I want to plead with resident of this area who dump refuse on waterways to refrain from such act as it is capable of getting out of control, which could lead to loss of lives and properties. I want to plead with the ministry of works and the state governor to also come to our rescue and help salvage the situation.”
