Professor Wuraola Shokunbi, a member of Women of Grace, Ibadan, has stated that Christians can make a difference in the world by living a dignified life.

Prof Shokunbi added that the devil tries to explore weakest link in Christians to inflict lasting damage on them.

She made this statement at a programme organised for Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students' (NFCS)  at  the Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church,  University of Ibadan, on Friday 15th April  with the theme 'Preserving the dignity of womanhood'.

Illustrating the story of the Garden of Eden in Gen. 2: 16- 20, Prof Shokunbi said that "we lost our dignity because Eve fell to the deceit of the serpent and Adam fell through Eve,” adding that, "where the man is weak, the son is even weaker.

"The devil looks for your weakest points and saves her own strength in fighting the Christians, Christians can make a difference in the world by living a dignified life.

Bemoaning the societal abuse of women, Prof Shokunbi said that both men and women are equal before God, stressing that women should not be down played. "Adverts showing scantily dressed women and some societal slogans that women are to be seen not heard... all these lead to low self-esteem," Prof Shokunbi said.

She added: "In advocating equality and dignity of women, we must not play women against men. The unity of man and woman implies that they should live in communion of love, even though each one pursues his or her own mission in life. It is through this communion of love that the product of a man and woman can be a useful human being on earth.

The Facilitator of Women of Grace in Nigeria, Dr Mrs Josephine Igbeka, said this is one of the programmes of the organization to reach out to the younger generations. She said more of this is on the line as part of the effort to evangelize.

The programme, which was attended by a large number of both young men and women, was rounded off by Dr Theresa Elumelu, the President of Women of Grace on the title: Why be Catholic when you could be anything else?
