
Libyan Presidential Council Orders Ministries’ Bank Accounts Frozen

The presidential council of the Libyan national unity government on Wednesday ordered that the Governor of the central bank should freeze the bank accounts of ministries and public organisations.
In an official letter to the central bank and the country’s national audit office, the Council warned against measures that would violate the order.
The presidential council, however, said that accounts used in paying salaries and social funds should not be frozen.
The national coalition government which was not recognised by the international community on Tuesday announced its decision to hand over power to the presidential council of the national unity government, illustrating respect for the power of the new authorities.
