The immediate past administration of Captain Idris Wada of Kogi State could not access the bailout fund offered by the Federal Government because it was unable to properly conclude the required processes.

The is according to his successor, Governor Yahaya Bello, who told State House correspondents after a visit to the Presidential VIlla, Abuja on Wednesday that his administration was now doing all that was necessary to get the fund for the benefit of the state.

Asked why the state had not got the bailout fund despite its dire financial situation, he said: "Well, I think to the best of my knowledge, the last administration did not go on with the process properly, which we are doing now to correct whatever was not done properly so that we can access it for our people."

He was hopeful that with the ongoing effort, the money should be released to the state soon.

"We applied for it and it’s under processing. So, right now, I have not gotten any bailout yet," he added.

The governor also assured that the political crisis in Kogi State, particularly the problem in the State House of Assembly has been resolved.

According to him, the executive and legislative branches of government in the state were now carrying out their responsibilities in a cordial atmosphere.

He noted that there was peace in the state legislature despite its crisis, which led to the National Assembly taking over its functions.

He stated: "My house (State House of Assembly) is sitting and we have absolute peace in Kogi State. The state is absolutely in peace and the legislative activities are ongoing.

"I am the executive and the executive is functioning and we are doing the best we can. So, legislature is doing their own business and they are on it.

"I have a speaker (of the State House of Assembly) that is sitting right now. So, I don't know if there is any problem there."

Bello advised the people of the state to remain law abiding as he told his detractors to refrain from causing distraction, saying that the state had witnessed enough problems.

"Kogi State has bled over a long period of time. This is not the time for political crisis. This is the time to work and I am here to work. I am not here to have any political fuss with anybody. Whoever is ready should join me and let's fix Kogi State," he declared.
