Katsina State governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has tasked the Super Eagles to soar higher against Egyptian counterparts when both meet tomorrow for the crucial 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifier at the Ahmodu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
Egypt are currently ahead of Nigeria in their group with six points, while Nigeria has four points and both teams are set to meet over two legs affair to determining the leader of the group.
But the governor in a statement issued by his senior special assistant on sports, Aminu Balele Kurfi, advised Coach Samson Siasia and his boys to go for a resounding victory that would propel them to face the second leg in Alexandara with courage.
The governor, who is among the high profile guests expected at the Stadium tomorrow to cheer Eagles to victory, is confident that Samson Siasia-led technical crew has carefully selected a team of inform players that have the capability of ensuring victory for Nigeria, adding that the Super Eagles players are better placed to win the visiting pharaohs.
“As usual, the government of Katsina state will stand solidly behind the Super Eagles as they seek victory over the Egyptians in the efforts to ensure that Nigeria is not missing in the 2017 AFCON.
“We have believes in the capability of both the players and the technical crew to deliver the required victory on Friday.
“We emphasize that the coaching trio of Samson Siasia, Emmanuel Amuneke and Salisu Yusuf is the best to move the Super Eagles forward”, stated the governor who noted that he had had personal discussions with the coaches at different occasions.
It would be recalled that the Katsina state governor approved hosted the national U-17 team under Coach Emmanuel Amuneke to camp in Katsina during their preparations for the last FIFA U 17 World Cup, which they won last year in Chile.
