The management of Rangers International FC of Enugu on Tuesday said it plans to reach out to its foreign-based fans to assist the club to seek a definite end to their 32-year league trophy drought.
Paul Chibuzo, Rangers’ General Manager told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu that this could entail reaching out to the club’s fans worldwide to raise funds to enable it win a ticket for continental cup campaigns.
He added that the management had also resolved to diversify its revenue sources in order to augment the grants from the Enugu State government. Rangers, one of the frontline clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) since its debut in 1972, last won the league in 1984 about 32 years ago.
According to the GM, the club is mobilising its fans in major cities of the world to join the Rangers in the Diaspora Association. “We have also gone ahead to appeal to the fans in the Diaspora on the need to support the club in anyway, especially financially.
“Apart from galvanising financial and material support from our Diaspora fans worldwide, we are striving to improve our financial management system as well. “We are also improving on our income from earnings from gate-money, even as we will continue our local sensitisation and mobilisation of fans for our home matches.
