The Super Eagles will arrive Kaduna, venue of Friday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Pharaohs of Egypt today.
Nigeria Football Federation Assistant Director Communications, Ademola Olajire informed yesterday that all arrangements have been made for the team’s comfortable stay in Kaduna and would train this morning at the National Stadium, Abuja before heading out to Kaduna.

Arsenal prodigy Alex Iwobi was the first overseas-based player to arrive in the Super Eagles’ camp in Abuja on Sunday, before Turkey-based Umar Aminu and Godfrey Oboabona and John Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo and Aaron Samuel.

England-based goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, defenders Efe Ambrose and Abdullahi Shehu, midfielders Kelechi Iheanacho and Azubuike Okechukwu and forwards Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Victor Moses and Fanendo Adi were being expected to land in Abuja yesterday night.
South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, defenders Stanley Amuzie and Elderson Echiejile and midfielder Ogenyi Onazi would arrive in Lagos yesterday night and travel to Abuja by first flight today.

Meanwhile, former Secretary General of the then Nigeria Football Association, Alhaji Ahmed Sani Toro, yesterday called on the Federation and sports minister Solomon Dalung to reconsider their plan to fly the Super Eagles to Egypt via a regular plane instead of a chartered flight to Alexandria for the return leg of the AFCON qualifier on March 29.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick recently said due to the prevailing economic situation in the country, the federation would jettison the usual chartered flight to fly the Eagles in a normal flight.
He said the arrangement would free some cash which would help in meeting the monetary needs of the Super Eagles.
Pinnick said by the new arrangement, the team will fly Egypt Air and the NFF would save between N35m to N40m.
However, Toro said the plan to deviate from the usual chartered flight arrangement would not be in the best interest of the team, as it is capable of denying the country the 2017 AFCON ticket.
“I have just read in the newspapers the report credited to the NF president that the NFF is not considering chartering an aircraft to convey the Super Eagles and supporters to Cairo for the second leg match between Nigeria and Egypt.
“It is imperative for NF in conjunction with the minister of sports to reconsider this position in the overall interest of Nigeria and football loving Nigerians.
“We do not have to gamble with our chances of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations,” he said.
