The man who allegedly abducted a 14-year-old girl, Ese Oruru, from Bayelsa State and took her to Kano, Yunusa Dahiru (alias Yellow), was yesterday granted bail by a Federal High Court in Yenagoa.
Dahiru was on March 8 charged with abduction, kidnapping, unlawful carnal knowledge and sexual exploitation of Ese Ruling on the bail application, Justice H. A. Nganjiwa said Yunusa must pay N3m and provide two sureties.

The sureties, he said, must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court while one must be a civil servant of not less than level 12 while the second must be a title holder. He added that the suspect should be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
The judge further said the sureties must provide evidence of tax clearance for the past three years.
Dahiru had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His counsel, Kayode Olaoshebikan, thanked the court for granting him bail and promised to work to meet the conditions.
The prosecuting counsel, J.O. Anate who opposed the bail application noted that the reasons advanced by the judge were credible. The judge adjourned the case till April 17 for ruling on the application of the prosecution to obtain the evidence of Oruru in secret.
