Former Police Affairs Minister under former President Obasanjo, Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri has disclosed that Yobe state has been ravaged from two tiers of insurgency.
Waziri stated this yesterday while speaking with the press after leading a Yobe PDP delegation that paid a courtesy visit on the National Chairman of the party.
According to him, “we have two insurgencies in Yobe: we have the Boko Haram insurgency, which is criminal, but we have political insurgency of mis-rule of Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.
“PDP must be on its way back to glory because very few members of the PDP know what it is to lose elections until now that we lost in 24 states.
“I have lost election before and I know the pains. I know the urge. Now that we have got some compatriots in our party, we will sit up and make sure that there is democracy for Nigerians and there must be a viable political platform.”
He argued that the people may now be having a rethink against the APC stating that, “if what we are hearing is anything to go by, the people will give us another chance if we put our house in order.”
“If Nigerians are blaming PDP for 16 years of misrule we in PDP of Yobe are blaming ANPP/APC for 16 years of misrule. If there will be any change, we will start the change from Yobe.
“It is the popularity of the party on a journey to redeem itself so that it can reclaim its lost glory.I can assure you that the Chairman is very knowledgeable of the terrain where these by elections are taking place because his second home is Yobe.”
Earlier, the National Chairman of the PDP Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff commended the return of Senator and House of Representatives member from Yobe despite the bandwagon effect of that election.
He assured that he will be in Yobe to campaign for the return of not only the house of assembly members but also to make sure all aggrieved members of the party are appeased and returned.
