Hundreds of candidates who wrote the 2016 universities matriculation examination yesterday in Lagos protested against the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and its registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, alleging deliberate reduction of marks to make admission difficult for them.
Armed with placards, the candidates demanded the immediate sack of Ojerinde by the federal government. They accused the professor of marking down about 750 students among the 1.8 million that sat for the examination to pave way for private universities.
The protesters who were students mostly from tutorial schools, arrived the premises of the State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja at about noon, and sang solidarity songs to express their grievance over their results in the examination which commenced on the February 27, 2016.
Their leader and President, National Association of Tutorial Schools in Nigeria, Lagos branch, Mr. Shodunke Oludotun, urged the federal government to look into the plight of the students in order not to make them remain idle for another year.
