The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commenced routine combing of vulnerable spots to checkmate illegal activities in Kaduna State.
Briefing operatives in the Anti-vandal Unit before departure for the special operation yesterday, the State Commandant, Alhaji Modu Bunu, charged them to be diligent and ensure transparency in the discharge of their duties.
He said the move became imperative considering the unfortunate resilient posture of vandals which translates to huge national economic loss.
The NSCDC boss recalled that instead of some communities to report illicit activities of vandals, they harbour perpetrators, citing Ungwan-Liman near Kangimi and Ungwan Sauri in Igabi and Chikun LGAs respectively as locations where such practices existed.
Bunu reiterated that vandalism should be seen as a serious act of sabotage and reported to security agencies.
The routine security checks of vulnerable pipelines, which started at Laduga forest, are to simultaneously continue in all spots across the state.
While appealing to communities where pipelines are located to be wary of the presence of NSCDC personnel and cooperate with them, the State NSCDC helmsman has called for collaboration in the interest of the nation.
