THE National Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, is confident that the party will win all six chairmanship posts up for grabs in the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections.
Expressing the optimism while receiving the party's chairmanship candidates in his office in Abuja on Friday, he also assured all six of the support of the party at all levels to ensure they emerge victorious at the polls.
The chairmanship candidates were led to his office by the Senator representing the FCT, Senator Phillip Aduda.
Sheriff stressed that the FCT was strategic to his plans for the re-launch of the PDP.
He therefore said that he will personally mobilise the caucus of the PDP to throw its weight behind the candidates in the forthcoming election.
While expressing satisfaction with the performance of the party in the rerun and bye elections across the country so far, the National Chairman observed that wining all six Council elections in FCT will send the rightful signal to the effect that PDP remains the Africa's leading political Party.
In thanking the Senator and the candidates, Sen Sheriff asked them to work for the success of the PDP in order to shame the critics of the Party and as a victory present to him for emerging as the National Chairman. In his response on behalf of the candidates, Sen Phillip Aduda assured the party boss that the FCT was a traditional PDP territory, adding that there were very strong indications that the PDP remained the Party to beat in the forthcoming elections.
He congratulated the National Chairman and promised total and unflinching support of the council chairman for the period Sheriff will remain in office.
