Three other high schools in the surrounding area were also put under lockdown in a precautionary move.
All of those shot were expected to suvive after suffering non-life threatening injuries, according to school officials.
One person was shot in the leg but doctors confirmed the others' injuries "appeared more serious", including two being treated for "shrapnel wounds"

The local school district added students would be dismissed once the scene was cleared by the Bulter County sheriff.
Rodney Muterspaw, police chief of nearby Middletown, said: "I just cleared the scene there and it is hectic."

State records show enrollment of about 250 junior high and 500 high school students.

Madison Local Schools said: "At this time we plan to dismiss early, however, we cannot do this without your cooperation.
"The Butler County Sheriff’s Office has asked that everyone stay back until they can clear the scene."
