Former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro
Barring any change, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), will arraign former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, before Justice Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja, today (Monday).
The former minister, who served under the administration of former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, will be arraigned alongside three others and a company on an 11-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence, procurement fraud and money laundering.
To be arraigned by the anti-corruption commission alongside the former minister are Anastasia Daniel Nwobia, F.O. Alayebami and Mahmood Ahmadu, who is said to be at large now.
Also, Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited will be arraigned with the former minister and others.
A source in the commission informed the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday evening that Moro allegedly defrauded a total of 676, 675,000 job seekers to the tune of N676,675million, being the total amount realised from the N1,000 each applicant paid through e-payment for their online recruitment exercise into the tragic 2014 botched recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
It was further gathered, that Moro contravened the Public Procurement Act, No. 65 of 2007 in awarding contract for the recruitment exercise to Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited, by not following the necessary procedure laid down by the government.
According to the source, the contract was neither advertised nor had needs assessment, while a procurement plan was not carried out before award of the contract to the company.
The contract was awarded through selective tendering procedure by invitation of four firms without seeking approval of Bureau for Public Procurement contrary to sections 40, 42 and 43 of the Public Procurement Act, No. 65 of 2007 and punishable under section 58 of the same act.
In another development, an inside source informed the Nigerian Tribune that the deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, who was arrested last week by the commission in Abuja was still in EFCC custody as of last weekend.
Also said to still being in detention was the Chief Executive Officer of Mezcor Oil and Gas, Donald Chidi Amamgbo, who is said to be a cousin of the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Amamgbo, is also the Executive Officer of Tridax Oil and Gas, Lynear Energy Limited and Bulk Strategic Reserved Limited.
