A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kwara State, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, has hailed a plan by President Muhammadu Buhari to reintroduce Teachers Training Colleges (TTC) in the country.

Baraje, who is a retired teacher and proprietor of an Islamic academy, said that Buhari’s plan was in the right direction.

Resuscitation of teachers’ colleges, he noted, would arrest the falling standard of education in the country.

Baraje said this in Ilorin, at the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of the Ilorin Teachers College now Sheikh Abbulkadir College.

He stated that such a decision would not only impact positively on the quality of the nation’s education sector, but ensure a better teacher education system in the country.

Baraje, who chaired the occasion, lamented that since the abolition of teachers training colleges, the quality of the teaching profession has dwindled.
