The former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, paid a condolence visit to the late Olubadan’s palace at his resident in Monatan.

Obasanjo in his address described the late monarch as a person who had an unusual record in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and the record he left behind will be difficult for anyone to achieve.

The former president said that ‘’though he was not around when kabiyesi went into transition but came now to commiserate with the family’’. He assured the late oba’s family that he would be present during the funeral ceremony.

He said the Monarch’s death was not a premature death, he prayed for the repose of the late monarch to rest in peace.

....And TAMPAN too

The governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, Mrs Rose Odika paid a Condolence visit to the Late Oba Odulana Odugade Palace at Monatan, Ibadan.

The Governor of TAMPAN was accompanied by her fellow associates to commiserate with the Late Monarch’s Family.

Mrs Rose Odika in his chat with the press thanked God for the life the Late Monarch spent. He lived a life that fought for the Yoruba race, exemplary life, believed in entertainment and in the culture of Yoruba.  Mrs Odika said there was peace during his reign. She prayed that the peace remains and every other Obas should emulate him.

The first time TAMPAN had an encounter with the late Kabiyesi was when he celebrated his centenary birthday. The Association was given a chance to perform, and for Baba to have us the space to perform, in celebrating his birthday, this gave our association that he was a man that welcomes everybody up to entertainers, The Governor of TAMPAN said.

In her expectations from the new olubadan, Mrs Odika said he should step into the Late Monarch’s shoes by ensuring that the cultures, values of Ibadanland are brought into limelight and not forgetting about the unity that Baba Awolowo always clamour for.
