The Minister for Solid Mineral and energy, Dr KayodeFayemi had considered the death of Olubadan, Oba OdugbadeOdulana as a great loss to us as a people and as a race.

While speaking with pressmen on his visit to the family of the deceased monarch on Monday, Fayemi commended the effort of the monarch. He said, ‘’Baba was a committed nationalist and exemplary public servant. He was a passionate politician even before becoming the guardian of our heritage and tradition here in Ibadan.”

Fayemi who considered himself as an Ibadan man said, “As an Ibadan man, I have closely associated with the Kabiyesi in his lifetime, he (Kabiyesi) was always interested in what would result in progress of the Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole. It’s a great loss!”

Furthermore, Fayemi said it was a celebration of life. If you lived that long and served the people committed, then you really have a legacy that you left behind for the rest  of us to follow, especially those of us that found ourselves in political space which papa trod before he became the Kabiyesi.”

In addition, he said; ‘’leadership is service, leadership is sacrifice, leadership is commitment and that is what he did all his life. He served the people with passion, with commitment, with fear of God and we have a lot to thank God for in his life.
