Abducted Delta monarch regains freedom

The traditional ruler of Olomoro, in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Josaih Umukoro, Aghaza 1, has been left off the hook by his abductors.

It was reported that the Odionlogbo was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from his pool office, a few kilometers from his palace last Friday, January 29 and whisked to an unknown destination.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed on phone on Tuesday morning that the monarch was released by his abductors at about 8:30p.m on Monday, February 1, by his captors.

She added that the monarch "was recovered by the combined efforts of the police and vigilante while conducting a guided search in a bush around Sapele area."

Kalu, who did not clarify whether a ransom was paid before the release, disclosed that the victim has been escorted to his palace where he has since been re-united with his family members, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest the miscreants.
