The 2016 Miss Oodua beauty pageant was held on Wednesday, January 20 at the Hilton hotel, Ile Ife, Osun state.

On Tuesday, January 19, the contestants had visited the Ooni of Ife in his palace where he admonished them on virtues of a Yoruba queen and more.
In all 16 bevies of beauty participated in the contest. The contestants appeared in three different outfits, sport wear that is not revealing, Yoruba traditional outfit and in evening gown.
Miss Fadipe Toluwani beats other contestants to clinch the crown. A 100 level student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, department of dramatic art Toluwani combine beauty and brain to beat others at the contest.
Aside winning a cash prize, Toluwani was handed the key to a brand new car by the Ooni of Ife who poured encomiums on Otunba Gani Adams, the National coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), who organised the pageant under the Olokun Festival Foundation.
The Ooni during the presentation of the car said the name of the pageant should be changed to “Omidan Oodua” from Miss Oodua so as to promote the Yoruba culture and language as from the next edition of the pageant.
Other beauty queens at the beauty pageant include the 2015 Miss Olokun, 2015 Miss Oya, 2015 Miss Olumo and the outgoing Miss Oodua.
