A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the federal government to produce former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki in court on the next adjournment date. Justice Ademola Adeniyi in his order said the court has not excused his absence and that Dasuki must be physically present to face the criminal charges against him.

At the session, counsel to the federal government, Dipo Okpeseyi withdrew an application earlier filed against the accused person’s bail.

Okpeseyi told the court that his team would be withdrawing an application that the bail granted the former NSA on November 3 be revoked.

However, the said application was further struck out by Ademola for lack of merit.

Furthermore, Okpeseyi filed an application seeking a protection of witnesses against the former NSA.

Ademola having heard all the submissions by the prosecuting counsel adjourned the case to Tuesday and Wednesday, February 16 and 17 for ruling on the application for secret trial and commencement of trial.

Dasuki is facing charges for illegal diversion of funds ($2.1 billion) meant for the procurement of arms and the criminal abuse of public office.

Meanwhile, Doyin Okupe, the former senior special assistant on public affairs to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted tp allegation that companies linked to him got contracts from the office of the  former National Security Adviser,Sambo Dasuki. In a statement released yesterday, January 19, the former presidential spokesperson said he never got along with Dasuki during his tenure.

According to him, Dasuki schemed him out of the reelection campaign of Jonathan and even threatened to get him out of Jonathan’s administration.
