It is common knowledge that the issue of the lack of potable water in Nigeria is a crucial one. Today Kpabuye Yabo Abusa, Naij.com reader, sent us a vivid confirmation of the above statement.

“This is the only source of drinking water in Pindiga, Akko local government area, Gombe state. The villagers are suffering,” Abusa wrote in the text accompanying the photos. One does not have to be an expert in ecology to understand it is hardly intended for drinking.

Apart of being one of the major milestones on Nigeria’s way towards achieving the Millenium Development Goals, the lack of potable water is one the core threats to the lives and health of Nigerian citizens. Bloomberg says the lack of running water killed more people in Nigeria last year than Boko Haram, claiming about 73,000 deaths, according to WaterAid, a London-based non-profit organisation.
