Residents of Duhu in the Northeastern part of the country have accused Nigerian troops of killing a teacher and two middle-aged men in detention.

The residents who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity,  on Friday, January 8, gave the names of the victims as Habu Bello, Idrisa Dele and Umaru Hammankadi.

It was gathered that the soldiers on Wednesday, arrested the teacher and the other two middle aged men, and that their bodies were later discovered in a bush with bullet wounds. The community women on Friday protested the killings at a military base.

Meanwhile, the information comes amid accusations that several other people arrested by the Nigerian military and vigilantes on suspicion of being Boko Haram members have disappeared and feared dead.

However, human rights groups have also accused Nigeria’s military of killing thousands of civilians in the fight against terrorism, but the military has denied the allegations.
