Governor Ambode appoints ex-banker, Akin Oyebode to manage N25bn Trust Fund

Ambode on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, signed into law the N25billion Employment Trust Fund (ETF) bill, aimed at tackling the high rate of unemployment in the state.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, in a bid to fulfill his promise of creating jobs and promoting wealth creation, has appointed an ex-banker and social commentator, Akin Oyebode as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.

According to News Wire, the Lagos state Governor said “One of our campaign promises was to establish an Employment Trust Fund. Today, we are fulfilling this promise with the official signing of the Bill formally establishing the Employment Trust Fund.

“This bill will address the challenge of unemployment and promote wealth creation through entrepreneurial development. As I sign this Bill today, an annual contribution of N6.25billion will be injected into the Fund by the State Government for 4years totaling N25billion.”

Adding that the names of the eminent people on the Fund's Bord of Trustees will be announced soon.

Mr. Akin Oyebode was the head of SME banking at Stanbic IBTC bank before his appointment.
