Minister of Labour and Employment,Senator Chris Ngige has denied claims by an online publication, requesting applicants to submit their curriculum vitae(CVs)to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and zonal offices across the country.

Ngige, said through a statement by his Deputy Director (Press),Olowookere Samuel, in Abuja on Monday, that at the appropriate time, government would roll out its strategies to engage Nigerians in decent employment.

CEOAfrica source gathered that the recent online request, calling for application, may have been spurred by President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2016 budgetary appropriation, presented to the National Assembly,in which he announced plans by his administration to engage at least 500,000 unemployed graduates from other academic disciplines into the teaching profession.

Ngige said government has perfected plans for massive job creation in line with its electoral promises, through well articulated programmes such as Graduate Teachers Conversion Programme, Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), Vocational Skills Acquisition and Upgrading, Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT) for the vulnerable persons, including market women.

He said the general Public will be informed in due course, when any of these programmes or schemes would  be rolled out.

“The attention of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. (Dr) Chris Ngige has been drawn to the online publication requesting unemployed Nigerian youths to submit application for employment at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment Headquarter and Zonal offices nationwide.

“The general public is hereby advised to disregard this false directive as it did not emanate from the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.

“Any person who does otherwise, does so at his or her own risk, especially when some of the websites have been requesting applicants to pay what they dubbed “application fees”.

“In view of the apprehension the above false information has generated it is pertinent to point out that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to the creation of decent employment opportunities for teeming unemployed Nigerians and has perfected plans for massive job creation.

“This would be achieved through well thought out programmes such as Graduate Teachers Conversion Programme, Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), Vocational Skills Acquisition and Upgrading, Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT) for the vulnerable persons including market women,”the statement added.
