
Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has restructured the Operations Lafiya Dole in the North East and Multi-National Joint Task Force in N’Djamena, Chad.
A statement by Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar said the restructuring was “to reposition them for more efficiency, effectiveness and combat readiness in the discharge of their assigned tasks of crushing the remnant of terrorists.”
The new Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole is Major General Hassan Umoru. According to the acting defence spokesman until his appointment, he was the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division Nigerian Army.
Equally appointed is the Commander Multi-National Joint Task Force, Major General Lamidi Adeosun.
Similarly, the Deputy Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole is now Major General Lucky Irabor. All the appointments are with immediate effect, the statement said.
“The changes are part of the reorganisation by the Defence Headquarters in line with the force restructuring of its operations to attain the overall objectives of the Chief of Defence Staff.
“The aim of this new development is to restrategise and inject new tactics to the existing operational procedures with the aim of finally knocking out the terrorists who now devised means of hitting soft targets through suicide bombings and isolated attacks on remote villages.
