The Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan held a one day workshop themed ‘Promotion of Christian

Family Values in the church’ on the November 25, 2015 at Pope John Paul Centre, University of Ibadan.

While delivering his welcome address Mr Steve Olasupo, President, Archdiocesan Laity Council of Ibadan reiterated that the Catholic Church has always established that Christian family values remain the engine of growth of the church, adding that It has become imperative to re-examine family values and particularly Christian family values because far too many options are challenging the virtues that had once guided and preserved the society.

He also observed that following the explosion in communication revolution in the last four decades, public space has been taken up by all kinds of information, which in most cases directly antagonises Christian family values or at best, offer alternatives that remain suspect and leads to erosion of positive values.

“When it is realised that the mere possession of a mobile phone enables a child irrespective of age, to have access to making of bombs and offers all sorts of distraction to them, then the need for a concertel4d approach to promoting Christian family valued is necessary.“

His Grace Most Rev. Dr Gabriel Abegunrin urged Christian to reawaken the family values as the only solution to our current problems. “If our families are serving God, Nigeria and the rest of the world will be a better place”
