The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Alhaji Muhamadu Gana has declared that vandals will not just go to jail, they will also forfeit all their property acquired by their nefarious activities.

The declaration was made in Osogbo, Osun State when the CG was touring the commands holding the seized assets in the Zone F of the corps, comprising of Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun and Ogun states.

The NSCDC boss who was represented by the commandant in charge of Asset Monitoring in the zone, Mr Solomon Olasupo berated the perpetrators of vandalism describing their activities as not only wicked but also ungodly.

He noted that all hands must be on deck to checkmate the vandals as allowing them could portend a serious danger to the economy, lives, property and the common heritage of Nigeria as a country.

“Vandals are nothing but our visible enemies. They are groups that don’t mind putting all of us in trouble simply because they want to enjoy themselves. The fact that their actions can run down the economy and even put our lives and property in danger is enough for all of us to cooperate to wipe the heinous activities out”, he said.

Gana, who noted that the NSCDC was well positioned to combat the menace of the vandals solicited the cooperation of not only the sister agencies but also that of the members of the public in routing out the dastardly acts in our society.

The CG then charged officers and men of the corps to as a matter of duty redouble their efforts in fighting the undesirable elements noting the NSCDC that has been known for dedication to duty without compromise cannot afford to derail.

“If anything, this is the time the nation needs you most. The positive change as being espoused by President Muhammadu Buhari must be unconditionally supported. To whom much is given, much is also expected.” he said.

Earlier, the Osun state commandant, Alhaji Tajudeen Balogun had said the command was up and doing in the areas of arrest and prosecution of vandals and those who indulge in selling adulterated petroleum products to the members of the unsuspecting public.

He explained that though Osun is not an oil producing state, the eagle eyes of his officers and men have continued to expose vandals, noting the command was able to secure judgments on some cable vandals recently, which he noted will serve as deterrent to others.
