Measles: 1.6m Children For Immunization In Bauchi

About 1.6 million children will be immunized against measles in Bauchi State during the five days measles follow up campaign for Novermber 2015.

Bauchi State Coordinator of the Emergency Operation Centre, A Dada, disclosed this during a one-day Orientation Programme for Journalists on Planned Measles Campaign for November 2015 organized by the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

According to Dada, the immunization exercise will run from 21st to 25th November 2015 in all the 323 wards across the 20 local government areas of the state.

He said that all children who fall between the age group of nine months to 59 months would be vaccinated against measles, adding that 1,615 team would conduct the exercise, noting that each team would consist of seven persons which include three health workers.

His words: “Two thousand four hundred and fifty four posts will be available in the state for the five-day exercise and this will consist of fixed vaccination post and temporary fixed vaccination post which can also be called fixed mobile post.

The fixed vaccination post, according to Dada includes all the health centres in the sttae while the fixed mobile post are schools, churches, mosque, traditional leaders houses among others.

He assured that adequate security as well as crowd control would be provided in all the immunization posts.

Dada said that the exercise which would be conducted in all the 19 Northern states including the Federal Capita Territory is part of the Federal Government intervention to ensure all children between 9 months to 5 years are immunized against measles yearly.
