The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been called to prosecute the Ooni-elect, Prince Adeyeye Ogunwusi over an allegation of forgery.
The call was made by a group known as Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice. While speaking, the chairman of CHRSJ, Mr Adeniyi Sulaiman, said this in a letter written to the chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, he said the allegations were weighty and they ought to be thoroughly investigated.
A copy of the letter, which was given to President Muhammadu Buhari, was also made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday.
Sulaiman said the allegation of forgery, fraudulent conversion and obtaining of N400 million against Ogunwusi and his company should not be kept secret.
The group however threatened to get court order to compel the EFCC to prosecute the Ooni-elect if they failed to begin the prosecution after seven days of receipt of the letter.
The letter read, ”We wish to refer the Honourable Chairman to the contents of a weighty petition involving various acts of criminality namely forgery, fraudulent conversion and obtaining the sum of N400m by false presence levied against the above named person.
“We also refer the chairman to the EFCC’s letter dated September 17, 2015, to Principal Parter, Olawoyin (Legal Practitioners) and a letter dated September 23, 2015, from Olawoyin & Olawoyin (Legal Practitioners) to EFCC on the same subject matter.
“In view of the foregoing. We hereby request your commission to prosecute immediately upon the receipt of this letter.”
