The Golden Eaglets will take on Brazil in the quarter-finals of the 2015 U-17 World Cup in Chile. This is the first time both teams will square off at this level in a FIFA-organized competition.
If past meetings against South American opposition are to be taken into consideration, then the Eaglets shouldn't lose sleep over Brazil.

NIGERIA AND BRAZIL HAVE NEVER MET AT THE U-17 WORLD CUP
Since the Golden Eaglets made their debut at the inaugural edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in China in 1985, this is the first time ever they will be meeting Brazil. They've met other top South American teams like Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia and just recently Chile. But they've never crossed paths with Brazil.
BOLIVIA WERE THEIR FIRST EVER SOUTH AMERICAN OPPONENTS AT THE U-17 WORLD CUP
The Golden Eaglets first ever South American opponents at the FIFA U-17 World Cup were Bolivia in Canada 1987. They met in the group stage with the Eaglets winning 3-2 thanks to a Philip Osondu hat-trick.
THE EAGLETS HAVE MET SOUTH AMERICAN OPPOSITION NINE TIMES
The game against Brazil will be the 10th time the Golden Eaglets will be meeting a South American team. In the nine previous encounters, the Eaglets have won seven, drawn one and lost one.
ARGENTINA HAVE MET THE GOLDEN EAGLETS MORE TIMES (5) THAN ANY OTHER SOUTH AMERICAN TEAM
The Golden Eaglets have played against Argentina five times at the U-17 World Cup. This is the most times they have faced a South American team. In these five times both teams have clashed, the Eaglets have won three times, lost one and drawn one.
Their first meeting ended 0-0 in the group stage in Scotland 1989. The second meeting in Japan 1993 saw the Eaglets win 4-0. Both teams didn't clash again until Finland 2003 where the Argentines won 1-0. The Eaglets defeated Argentina 2-0 and 2-1 in South Korea 2007 and Nigeria 2009 respectively.
THE EAGLETS' ONLY LOSS TO A SOUTH AMERICAN OPPONENT WAS AGAINST ARGENTINA
The Eaglets' only defeat to a South American team was against Argentina. The Eaglets lost 1-0 in their last group game in Finland 2003.
THE GOLDEN EAGLETS HAVE MET SOUTH AMERICAN OPPOSITION TWICE IN THE QUARTER-FINALS
The game against Brazil will be the third time the Eaglets will face a South American team in the quarter-finals. The first time they met a South American team at this stage was in 2007 in South Korea which the Eaglets won 2-0.
In 2013 in the United Arab Emirates, they also beat Uruguay 2-0 in the last eight.
THE EAGLETS ALWAYS MADE IT TO THE FINAL AFTER BEATING A SOUTH AMERICAN OPPONENT
At the 1987 edition in Canada, the Eaglets defeated Bolivia 3-2 and got to the final but unfortunately they lost to the Soviet Union on penalties.
They took on Argentina in Japan 1993, won 4-0 and went on to win their second title.
In the second round and quarter-final at the 2007 edition in South Korea, the Eaglets beat Colombia and Argentina 2-1 and 2-0 respectively. They went on to beat Spain in the final.
Needing a win or draw to confirm their qualification into the second round in 2009, the Eaglets beat Argentina 2-1. But surprisingly, they lost 1-0 in the final to Switzerland.
And in the United Arab Emirates in 2013, the Eaglets beat Uruguay 2-0 in the quarter-final before going on to beat Mexico 3-0 in the final.
BIGGEST SCORELINE AGAINST A SOUTH AMERICAN OPPOSITION
The Golden Eaglets' biggest ever scoreline against a South American team was against Chile in the on-going U-17 World Cup.
The Eaglets won 5-1 in their Group A clash. The biggest scoreline prior to the win against Chile was the 4-0 defeat handed to Argentina at Japan 1993.
THE EAGLETS WENT ON TO WIN THE TROPHY AFTER BEATING TWO SOUTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES IN THE SAME TOURNAMENT
The first and only time the Eaglets met two different South American countries in the same tournament was in South Korea 2007. The Eagles defeated both Colombia and Argentina and went on to win the cup.
In the on-going U-17 World Cup, the Eaglets beat Chile 5-1 in the group stage, and will meet Brazil in the quarter-finals.
THE EAGLETS HAVE NEVER CONCEDED MORE THAN TWO GOALS AGAINST A SOUTH AMERICAN TEAM
Bolivia is the only South American team to have scored two goals against the Eaglets. The Eaglets went on to win 3-2. In Finland 2003, they lost 1-0 to Argentina, in South Korea 2007, they beat Colombia 2-1, Argentina was beaten 2-1 in 2009 and in the on-going U-17 World Cup, they thrashed Chile 5-1.
