One person has been confirmed died while several others sustained injuries near the Ife toll-gate yesterday (Wednesday) as the Ooni-designate Adeyeye Ogunwusi entered the town to begin coronation rites.

Heavy security presence was sighted as the Commissioner of Police in the state and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps supervised their men, yet they could not manage the traffic situation as excited drivers drove very recklessly while jubilating on the arrival of the new monarch.

CEOAfrica correspondent saw a scene of accident where a lifeless body of an unidentified man was lying beside the road. While some people were seen evacuating the injured to hospital, the man killed by a car was left having discovered that he was dead.

Celebration however continued as residents thronged drinking joints, wining and dining as they discuss the personality of their new monarch.

The family compound of the Ogunwusis at Agbedegbede area was also in celebration mood as guests filled up the compound. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was sighted at the family house of the new monarch among other guests.

Policemen were stationed at the family house of the new monarch to ensure safety of lives and property there.
