A Cardiac patient Akende Sianga will represent Zambia at the Global Heroes Marathon slated for October 4 in the United States of America.

Sianga is among thousands of cardiac patients across the world who will compete in the race.

In an interview before leaving for the United States, he said his target was to finish among the top 200 athletes in the 16 kilometre race where he would compete.

He said his aim was to finish within an hour and 40 minutes which he believed he would achieve.

"I have been invited to the Global Heroes Marathon among 10,396 athletes. It will be unrealistic to say I will finish first, my target is to finish among the best 200," he saidatero Gymnasium is organising this event which is scheduled to take place at Government Complex in Lusaka on November 7.

Reigning Mr Zambia Junior, Emmanuel Nkole is also staking his claim to the title.

"We are expecting about 15 participants some of the most notable participants include three times Mr Zambia Lloyd Kyusa, current Mr Zambia junior Emmanuel Nkonde, Jonas Sikaonga, Leman Mwaanga, Ibrahim Mukupa and Lucas Banda," Matero vice-treasurer, William Kasiwa said.

Kasiwa, however, said Matero had not yet established the prizes for the winners because the gymnasium was still in talks with some potential sponsors.

Sianga is involved in long distance races to sensitise the public about cardiac diseases and help those affected to live a positive life.
