An auto crash that occurred along the Odukpani axis of the Calabar-Ikom Highway in Cross River State on Thursday has led to the death of seven people.

It was gathered that the victims were occupants of a bus heading out of the city, which ran into a truck that swerved onto its lane, probably attempting to avoid the several potholes crating the road.

The situation caused a traffic jam that lasted several hours.

The deplorable state of the Calabar-Ikom-Obudu-Ogoja Highway had been the cause of several fatal accidents in the past weeks.

Several calls to relevant authorities by road users over the years, to work on the road had yielded no results.
